Hawk Grapplers Battle In Colter Abely Mid Season Classic

Six of the top 20 teams in New England wrestled at the Colter Abely Mid Season Classic in Middletown on January 18, including No. 3 Xavier, No. 4 Newtown, No. 11 East Lyme, No. 13 Scituate of Rhode Island, No. 15 Xavierian of Massachusetts, and No. 19 Simsbury. The Nighthawks placed six wrestlers as Antonio Arguello earned first place in the 150 pound weight division, Jake Maddox took first at 157, Marc Maurath first at 165, Kenna Gioffre second at 120, Shaun Daoust seventh at 144, and Andrew Corey seventh at 175.

The junior varsity competed at the Enfield JV Tournament on January 20th. Four Nighthawk wrestlers placed: Troy DaSilva and Bohdan Petryshyn were first, Micah Houston second, and Jarvis Kriauciunas third.

Following Wednesday’s match with Stratford the Nighthawks compete at The Gary Tiger Invitational in Ridgefield, against 16 teams from Connecticut and New York, on Saturday, January 25.
