Gymnastics Team Competes With Barlow

The Newtown High School gymnastics team hosted Joel Barlow of Redding, at Newtown Gymnastics Academy, on January 20. Both teams had reduced rosters due to illnesses but had a spirited competition with some impressive performances on the vault, bars, balance beam, and floor. In the end, Barlow was victorious 120.35-117.

On the vault Eva Fenaroli had a score of 8.6, Sadie Boyajian had a score of 8.55, Addie Strychalsky an 8.4, and Bella Muzzio-Martins an 8.15. On bars Aliyah Reuther scored a 9.0, Strychalsky had an 8.2, and Boyajian an 8.15. The balance beam routine featured Reuther scoring 8.4, Strychalsky 8.2, and Fenaroli 7.1. For the floor exercise Reuther had an 8.85, Fenaroli 8.55, Boyajian 8.45, Strychalsky 8.4, and Muzzio-Martins 8.2.

The Nighthawks are home again on Saturday, January 25, when Brookfield, New Milford, an Danbury visit at 5:30 pm.
