Michael R. French, 53, of Newtown, passed away January 6, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Newtown to Carol A. French and David G. French.

He was predeceased by his father and his brother, David J. French.

He is survived by his mother, Carol French; uncle Ben Kelley and his wife, Susan, of Kent, Conn.; sister-in-law Terri French, nephew Hunter and niece Casey French of Woodbury, Conn.; and cousin Fred Kelley and aunt Rita Kelley of Newtown.

Michael loved fishing at Taunton Lake and was a 35-year member of the Newtown Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his father and brother, from Cabo San Lucas to Guatemala to Alaska; and family vacations in the Florida Keys.

Mike also loved hunting pheasants with his dog, Brutus, and watching NASCAR races.

Mike was a very caring and kind person and loved by all. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
