Walter E. Dzitko, 65, of Wakefield, R.I., formerly of Newtown, died January 18 at home. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Krupa) Dzitko. Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of Walter J. and Sabina (Sawoski) Dzitko.
He received his BA from St Peterâs College in Jersey City and his MA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mr Dzitko served with the US Marines and was a purchasing manager for Union Carbide Corp for 35 years before retiring.
 He was a member of Christ The King Church and served on the Hospitality Committee and Parish Activities Committee. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St Rose of Lima Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Rhode Island and Connecticut, and enjoyed golf.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Edward M. Dzitko of Woodbury; a daughter, Linda A. Riggs of Saunderstown; two sisters, Patricia Riggio of New Fairfield and Melanie Witkowski of Bricktown, N.J.; and he was the loving grandfather of Adella May Carlson, and Nathaniel and Emma Riggs.
Funeral services were held January 23 from the Bromirski Funeral Home, Jersey City, N.J., with a funeral Mass in St Anthony of Padua Church, Jersey City.
