Reflections On A

Catholic School Education

To the Editor:

In a very small building on Church Hill Road, big things are happening every day. And, as we embark upon our annual weeklong national celebration of Catholic schools, it seems fitting to ponder these reflections from students at St Rose of Lima School:

“I love going to a school that shows me the way to God; where I can pray freely and feel safe. I have accomplished so much since I first came here in kindergarten and I am proud to be a part of this community.” – Rachel, sixth grade

“In a Catholic school we learn about science, language arts, math and history, but we also make close friendships through Jesus. He holds our hands and gives us the hands of others so we can follow the path of kindness and love.” —Brianne, sixth grade.

“Catholic schools teach us to put others before ourselves. They incorporate the perfect amount of fun, sports and academics. They really light the way!” —Kieran, seventh grade

“I have been going to Catholic school for eight years, and it has made a major impact in my life. What I love about St Rose is that everyone is so close-knit together. We share good and bad times, accomplishments and disappointments.” —Emma, seventh grade.

“At St Rose School we grow closer to God in prayer and we put other people first in our lives.” —Christina, fourth grade

“Catholic School has helped me grow in my faith, challenge my thinking and realize my potential as a student and member of the community.” —Jessica, eighth grade

“St Rose has prepared me for high school and has taught me to be a better person and a strong leader.” —Brittany, eighth grade

“St Rose has provided me with the knowledge and friendships that will help me throughout my life.” —Jack, eighth grade

“I have received an education necessary to attend prestigious high schools and colleges.” —Nick, eighth grade

“We light the way through kind actions and words, food and toy drives.” —Kaylee, fourth grade

“To me, a Catholic school is like a star that never stops shining.” —Wesley, second grade

“God lights the world and we can help others learn about him.” —Ilona, second grade

St Rose School’s motto, “Where Children Grow In Age, Wisdom and Grace,” is witnessed by the light in our children’s eyes, the song in their hearts, the knowledge in their minds and these true testaments to their enriching Catholic school experience. We are grateful to our dedicated teachers, our enlightened principal, our supportive pastor, and every faith-filled member of our parish and school community who believe in the value of a Catholic education. May God bless us all!

Please stop by and visit us. Open registration will be held on Sunday, January 27, 1 to 3 pm.

Sincerely,

John Moulder, President
