Lucille Gasper

A Gentle Spirit

Lucille Gasper, 82, died January 17 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Mrs Gasper was born August 27, 1925, in White Plains, N.Y., but lived most of her life in Bridgeport.

She is survived by two brothers, Raymond and his wife, Pat DeLorme, of Newtown and Lawrence (A.I.) Delorme of Pittsfield Mass.; her devoted daughter and son, Eileen Vernik of Milford and Edward Gasper of Meriden; her granddaughter, Heather and her husband, Angelo Toglia; her grandson, Christopher Vernik; her great-grandchildren, Alana Vernik, Alexander, Paige, and Troy Toglia; and a sister-in-law, Marge DeLorme of Stratford. Her nephews David, Robert, and Jimmy and her niece Cathy will also miss her. She will also be sadly missed by her favorite canine pal, Seiko. Mrs Gasper was predeceased by her husband, Adrian “Edward” Gasper.

She attended Sheriden Grammar School and graduated from Central High School, where she remained on the reunion committee. She retired from St Vincent’s Medical Center after 34 years of dedicated service, but still looked forward to attending the retirees meetings and functions.

Mrs Gasper was a gentle spirit, always ready with a smile and a giggle. She loved to spend time with nature listening to the birds, collecting seashells at the beach, and weeding her daughter’s flower garden. Her favorite hobby was traveling, especially to Hawaii and cruising the Caribbean.

She was an avid Yankee fan, rarely missing a game. One of her fondest memories was attending her first game at Yankee Stadium for her 80th birthday.

Funeral services were held January 22 in the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, Trumbull. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Beach Road, Branford CT 06405.
