Do Something Offering Grants To Teenagers

NEW YORK CITY — Do Something, a national nonprofit, is partnering with the Hopeless/Sub City Records’ Take Action! Tour to offer teens a chance to change the world.

Instead of telling young people to support a particular cause, Do Something asks “What’s your something?” and then gives them the information, resources, and grant money they need to realize their community oriented goals.

The Take Action Grants include $500 grants from projects that “do something” to promote music education, funded by the Hot Topic Foundation. MySpace Impact donates also donates $500 grants for antipoverty programs, and Hopeless/Sub City Records funds grants for the same amount for other projects.

To apply for a Take Action! Grant visit DoSomething.org/ grants. The grants are open to US and Canadian residents under the age of 25. Deadline to file applications is January 31, and winners will be announced in February.

Do Something also awards Plum Youth Grants that help further the growth and success of a sustainable community action project, program or organization founded by young adults. Grants in the amount of $500 are awarded weekly. Visit Do Something’s website for additional information.
