‘Can We Talk Our Selves To Peace’: Dr Judea Pearl To Speak At Sacred Heart University

FAIRFIELD — Sacred Heart University’s Student Affairs Lecture Series will present Dr Judea Pearl, noted scholar and the father of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and murdered by Islamic extremists in Pakistan in 2002, in a lecture on Monday, February 4.

Dr Pearl’s lecture is titled “Can We Talk Ourselves to Peace: Carving a Path For Muslim-Jewish Dialogue.” It will concern The Daniel Pearl Foundation (DanielPearl.org), of which Dr Pearl is president and helped to create in April 2002 “to continue Daniel’s lifework of dialogue and understanding and to address the root causes of his tragedy.”

The foundation sponsors journalism fellowships aimed at promoting honest reporting and East-West understanding, organizes worldwide concerts that promote intercultural respect, and sponsors public dialogues between Jews and Muslims to explore common ground and air grievances.

The lecture will begin at 7 pm, is open to the public, and tickets are $10. To purchase tickets, call 203-371-7846.

The lecture will be in the Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts at Sacred Heart University, 5151 Park Avenue.
