Active In Many Civic Organizations

Anita Clara Landucci Post, 85, of Torrington, died January 9 at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center in Plantsville. Mrs Post was born in Torrington on March 2, 1922, to Nicodemo and Argene Pagni Landucci. She was the widow of William J. “Doc” Post, who predeceased her in 1995 after 49 years of marriage.

Mrs Post leaves behind four children, James M. Post of Newtown, William N. Post of San Francisco, Martin J. Post of New Hartford, and Marilyn Post of Colchester, Vt; and a brother, Peter Landucci, of Torrington. Five grandchildren also survive Mrs Post.

She was employed by the Torrington Department of Education as a secretary and worked at the old East School and at Torringford School for many years before retiring in 1984. She participated in many civic and community activities with her husband, was a founding member and active supporter of FISH (Friends in Service Helping), and supported a variety of charities. Mrs Post was a troop leader with the Northwestern Connecticut Girl Scouts and a member of the League of Women Voters. She was active with the Sullivan Senior Center of Torrington and received citations for her years of volunteer work. She was a voracious reader and lifelong learner, attending many community college courses, and was also an accomplished knitter, quilter, and painter, as well as a devoted wife and mother.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center for the exceptional kind and loving care extended to their mother.

A funeral Mass was held January 14 at Saint Peter’s Church, Torrington.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to either The Alzheimer’s Resource Center, 1261 South Main Street, Plantsville CT 06479, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 279 New Britain Avenue, Kensington CT 06037.
