As I sit here, huddled over my keyboard, trying to formulate some sort of intro to the last Kim’s Korner of the 1999-2000 NFL season, the only thing I can think of is – thank god we don’t have to wait two weeks for the Super Bowl to be over.

For two reasons.

One, we can finally get this business of football behind us so we can start lining up for our New York Yankees’ World Series tickets. And, two, it gives reporters (and players) less time to find trouble down there in Atlanta and saves the rest of us all the grief of hearing about it ad nauseum.

Right now, it’s already Tuesday and about the only excitement down Atlanta is the fact that the passing storm shut down New York airports and stranded reporters and media types who were trying to get down south so they could work.

No players mouthing off, no players off talking to the wrong sort of people, no players get arrested – nothing.

It’s refreshing.

And just think, when the Super Bowl is finally over it will be just a couple weeks until pitchers and catchers report to spring training.

Ahhhhhhhhh.

KIM_HARMON - TENNESSEE 27, ST. LOUIS 21: One thing I learned last week (other than don’t eat too much roast pork at one sitting) is that the St. Louis Rams are not nearly as explosive as they seem to be when faced with a credible defense. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the best defensive units in all of football and did a great job of discombobulating Kurt Warner and the Rams. Tennessee, although missing a star safety, is still a credible defense and showed just how credible with a win over Jacksonville. Warner and Faulk are good, for sure, but Steve McNair and Eddie George have shown they can win, too – albeit without as much excitement. The Titans have a ferocious defensive line (led by The Freak, Jevon Kearse) and I think they shut down the Rams’ offense again – although not totally. Expect a good game and a Titans’ win. (There is, of course, NO reason to listen to me since I am 0-6 in the last two weeks).

STEVE BIGHAM – ST. LOUIS 39, TENNESSEE 15: I chose the Bucs to cover a week ago because I know it would be a low-scoring game. In the Super Bowl, however, St. Louis will go hog wild and the Titans’ miracle playoff run will come to a crashing halt.
