Sandy Hook Advisory Commission To Receive Expert Testimony On Behavioral Health, Crisis Counseling Services Today
HARTFORD – The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is scheduled to meet today at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, where they will receive presentations from several experts regarding issues related to behavioral health and crisis counseling services.
The meeting begins at 10 am in Hearing Room 1A, and is expected to last until early to mid afternoon.
The
agenda for today's meeting includes presentations by Daniel Dodgen, PhD (Director, Division for At Risk Individuals, Behavioral Health, and Community Resilience; Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response; Office of the Secretary; U.S. Department of Health and Human Services);
Thomas Demaria, PhD, director of the Psychological Services Center & Trauma Response Team of the Doctoral Psychology Program at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University;
Vincent B. Giordano, MS, a partner with Denizen Consulting; Francis Pombar, former recovery coordinator for Aurora Public Schools; and Marleen Wong, LCSW, PhD, Associate Dean and Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California School of Social Work.
A panel discussion and second discussion are also scheduled.
The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is Governor Dannel Malloy’s 16-member panel of experts tasked with reviewing current policies and making specific recommendations in the areas of public safety, with particular attention paid to school safety, mental health, and gun violence prevention. The group was formed in January in response to 12/14.
