Freshmen Girls

 

After losing their first game of the 1999-2000 season, the Newtown High School freshmen girls reeled off nine consecutive wins to boost their impressive record to 9-1 heading into games last week.

Recently . . .

In a 41-38 win over Pomperaug, Caitlyn Elf scored 20 points and Christine Manfredonia chipped in with 15. Manfredonia and Kristen McGrath (Special K) led the ‘Hawks in a 35-27 win over New Fairfield.

Then, in a 42-23 win over Stratford, 10 of the 12 players on the squad registered points in the ol’ scorebook. Elf led the way with her 10 points while Brittany Hutchison pulled down eight boards. Ina  38-20 win over Notre Dame, Monica Cluff had 10 points and eight other players scored, as well, with Julie Nietsch, Amanda Molden, Megan Steuer and Gina Gilroy contributing.

In a win over New Milford, Elf scored 10 points while Stephanie Wiedemann chipped in with four points and four rebounds. Hutchison grabbed seven rebounds and Michelle Grimaldi grabbed six.
