Newtown High School's girls' basketball team battled visiting Notre Dame-Fairfield to the finish before falling 56-53 on January 23.

The Nighthawks trailed 30-19 at halftime and by 14 points seconds into the third quarter before battling back to seize a 37-36 lead heading to the fourth.

Notre Dame took a late lead at the free throw line and held on.

Cyleigh Wilson scored 20 points, draining six 3-pointers along the way.
