Newtown High School's boys' hockey team suffered a hard-fought 3-2 overtime loss to Lyman Hall/Haddam-Killingworth/Coginchaug, at Danbury Ice Arena, on January 19. Jiyei Hawke and David Brestovansky had goals in the game.

The Nighthawks traveled to Guilford on January 22 and were doubled up 8-4. Newtown fell behind 2-0 after one period of play, and 3-0 before scoring three unanswered goals in the second stanza, but Guilford answered with the next three tallies to carry a 6-3 advantage into the third.

Brestovansky scored twice, and Justin Moore and Carl Bianco also lit the lamp for the Nighthawks. Andrew Gardner, Matthias Paltauf, Marc Carlson, and Hawke all recorded assists.
