Years Of Great Service

To the Editor:

When I read The Newtown Bee this week, it reminded me that the Hawleyville Post Office will be closing soon. I am 13 years old and have frequently used this post office for as long as I can remember. My parents have used this location as well. I prefer to go to this post office for various reasons. The wait has been much shorter because it was not as well-known and the employees that work there are very polite and helpful. The most important reason is because the mail I have sent out got to its destination faster than at other branches.

The other Newtown Post Offices are successful, but having the Hawleyville one helped not only my family and me, but many others who have made it their stop over the years. The eviction notice that was received last September ordered the closure of the office by October 31, but it got pushed back. As of February 14, we have to say good-bye to a post office that has gratefully served the public for many years. It has had an impact on many and I will be sad to see it go. I would like to say thank you to the employees of the Hawleyville Post Office for many years of great service.
