Thomas J. Cotter

US Army Veteran

Thomas J. Cotter, 78, formerly of Yonkers, N.Y., and currently of Newtown, died January 20 at Danbury Hospital. Born July 25, 1930, in New York City, he was the son of Thomas and Francis Lyons Cotter.

Mr Cotter proudly served his country in the airborne division of the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was the dear husband of the late Carol Cotter, who predeceased him in 1988; and the loving father of seven children, Mary and Paul Salley of Newtown, James and Kathy Cotter of Easton, Penn., Anne and Greg Haslinger of Cary, Ill., Joan Cotter of Yonkers, Clare and Chris Baucom of Tucson, Ariz., Eileen and Homer Lafuente of Lake Peekskill, N.Y., and Michael and Diane Cotter of Hurley, N.Y. He was also the cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren, including Elizabeth and Noelle Salley of Newtown.

Visiting hours for family and friends were scheduled for Thursday, January 22, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm, at F. Ruggierio & Sons, Inc, 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 23, at 10 am, at Annunciation Church, 470 Westchester Avenue, Yonkers. Interment will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery in Yonkers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Covenant House, Times Square Station, PO Box 731, New York NY 10108.
