Midgets Girls
Dynamites vs Chili Peppers: Dynamites: Sarah Houle and Ava Petrellese led the offense, while Catherine Shaw and Briana Castellano led the defense. Peppers: Haley Harkins and Anika Brady led the offense and Rachel Phillips and Sage Karp led the defense.
Blue Storm vs Junior Mints: Storm: Kendra Saunders and Elizabeth Weisgerber led the offense and Carly Swierbut and Shannon Cheh were strong on defense. Mints: Olivia Hagg and Jackie Matthews were the offensive leaders, while Julia Doyle and Danielle Wasserman led the defense.
Cheese Doodles vs Lightning Blue: Doodles: Evelyn Schwertley and Lauren Carrino led the offense and Rachel Tomasino and Sienna Cummings were strong on defense. Blue: Stephanie Helstein and Abby Pearson were the leaders on offense and Lucy Draper and Sarah Widmann were aggressive on defense.
Purple People Eaters vs Yellow Jackets: People Eaters: Sarah Lindell was strong on defense. Jackets: Carolina Stubbs and Brianna Giglio led the offense, while Alexandra Nuzzo and Julia Haskins led the defense.
Juniors Girls
Gaels 34, Wildcats 14: The Gaels were led by Sienna Ciccorella and Hulie LaPerch, each of whom scored 8 points. The Gaels passed the ball well to set up high-percentage shots. Meaghan Brophy led the offense for the Wildcats with 6 points.
Pistons 32, Huskies 28: Cassie Ekstrom led all scorers with 18 points and Lindsay Jossick added 6 in the win. Faaria Ansari had 4 assists, Catherine Neave came up with 3 steals and Keiley Kuligowski pulled down 5 rebounds. Kristi Engler and Alexa Powell both had 8 points and Luiza Tollkuci had 5 steals for the Huskies. Ekstromâs ball handling and hustle by teammates Erica Thill and Sarah Stofko were the difference in this close game.
Knicks 30, Thunder 28: Kelsey Packer had 10 points and 2 assists and Rachel Divanno compiled 10 rebounds and the Knicks overcame two players fouling out of the game. The Thunder fought back from a double-digit deficit to tie the game before coming up short. Rachel Wiberg and Jessica Gibbons had 7 and 6 points, respectively, Hayley Dunn had 5 steals and Allie Brazo contributed 8 rebounds.
Grade 8 Girls
Newtown Attack 36, New Milford 30: Bridget Powerâs 9 points and Erin Kenningâs 8 led the Attack to a league victory. Claire Miles had 4 blocks, Tressa Scott and Lydia Beiter combined for 6 assists, and Sam Steimle and Stephanie Roman had 3 rebounds each. Meaghan Harkins and Maddie good combined for 5 steals and also held the opponentâs best scorers to a season-low output.
Juniors Boys
Running Rebels 40, Warriors 34: For the Rebels, Christian Mather led the scoring with 18 points and Drew Sullivan had 13 points. Dom Scarangella had one assist, Mike Senf had 4 steals and Drew Sullivan had 8 rebounds. For the Warriors, Eric Firore was the high-scorer with 14 points and Brandon Cooper added 8 points. Brian Arnold had 3 assists and Eric Pisani had 3 steals.
Bricklayers 39, Trash Talkers 25: For the Bricklayers, Jack Champagne led the scoring with 13 points. Charlie Helgren had 9 steals and Cameron Patrick had 6 rebounds. For the Trash Talkers, Matthew Shannon scored 8 points, Max Hayes had 4 assists, Patrick Alfriyie had 3 steals and Jamie âYao Mingâ MacDonald had 10 rebounds.
Huskies 59, Grizzlies 23: For the Huskies, Pat Mullins led the scoring with 17 points and Jeff Hoffman had 12 points. Mike Davenport had 4 points and Jack Lago came up with 8 steals. Nadimul Hague had 4 points and 8 rebounds. For the Grizzlies, JP Kitzmiller led the scoring with 14 points. Garrison Buzzanca had 6 assists, Ty Runkle had 3 steals, and Hunter Low grabbed 4 rebounds.
Nighthawks 57, Celtics 45: For the Nighthawks, Mike Scharfenberg led the way with 37 points and 13 rebounds. Matt wood had 4 assists, Matt Spencer was the defensive star, Brock Chimileski added 10 points, and Matt Spencer had 4. Mike Burton and Sam Adams played well. For the Celtics, Cameron McCleary led the scoring with 12 points and Matt Lindell had 11 points. Troy Larsen was the assist leader, Collin Hull the defensive star, and Tom Floros was the rebounding leader.
Knicks 40, The Team 35: For the Knicks, Patrick Riccardi led the scoring with 16 points and Daniel Bethke had 4 points. Mitchell Steward and Grant Larnerd played well. For The Team, Tommy Gleason led the scoring with 8 points, Joe Davis had 5 assists and Steven Walsh had 3 steals. Nick Marcinek played great defense.
Wildcats 57, Heat 42: For the Wildcats, Wyatt Dupuy led the scoring with 17 points, followed by Justin Cherry, who had 12 points. Brendan Callery had 8 rebounds and Austin Raferty had 9 points. For the Heat, Spencer Brindley led the scoring with 10 points and John Meyers contributed with strong play. Colton Spasta had 4 assists and 5 points, Ryan Errico had 3 steals, and Ryan Rosenberger had 5 rebounds. Kyle Gordon had 4 rebounds, Nick Madden had 4 points 8 rebounds.
Tar Heels 36, Bullets 32: For the Tar Heels, Drew Tarantino led the scoring with 12 points. Jake Feinstein had 5 assists, Matt Rhatelli had 3 steals, and Steve Rahr had 7 rebounds. For the Bullets, Chris Devaney had 11 points, Kevin Shpunt had 5 assists, and Austin Babyak had 4 steals. Devin DiNicola scored 8 points and played tough defense.
Gators 56, Nets 43: For the Gators, Steve Conway had 21 points and Pat Thornberg added 8 points to lead the offense. Jordan Sock had 3 assists, Owen Gaston came up with 3 steals, and Austin Hubbert had 7 rebounds. For the Nets, Brendan Peterson led the scoring with 10 points and Nicky Sajovic had 9 points. David Cartisano had 3 assists and Angel Santos had 5 steals.
Heat 50, Tarheels 37: For the Heat, Justin DeVellis led the scoring with 28 points. Ruhit Ahsam had 5 assists, Pat Corello had 2 steals and Nick Madden had 10 rebounds and 8 points. Kyle Gordon played strong defense and had 4 rebounds, and Ryan Errico played well and had 3 steals. For the Tarheels, Jake Feinstein led the scoring with 11 points and Matt Rahtelli played well. Jack Benedict had 3 assists, Ben Payne had 3 steals,and Chase Hutchison came down with 5 rebounds.
Trash Talkers 46, The Team 39: For the Trash Talkers, Marks Swenson led the scoring with 10 points. Max Hayes had 8 assists, Matt Shannon had 4 steals, and Jamie MacDonald had 11 rebounds. For The Team, Chris Erikson led the scoring with 17 points and Jack Kearney had 5 steals.
Nighthawks 62, Nets 33: For the Nighthawks, Mike Scharfenberg led the scoring with 28 points. Dan Winn was the defensive star, Brock Chimileski added 10 points, Nick Norberg had 12, Mike Burton added 6, and Matt Wood 4. Sam Adams and Matt Spencer played well. For the Nets, Nicky Sajovic led the scoring with 15 points and Angel Santos had 14 points. Brendan Peterson had 3 assists and David Cartisano had 3 rebounds.
Knicks 58, Huskies 51 (overtime): For the Knicks, Patrick Riccardi led the offense with 25 points, Shay DeMarche had 7 points, and Robbie Hughes was the rebound leader. For the Huskies, Pat Mullins led the scoring with 24 points and Dean Demers had 10 points.
Grade 6 In House Boys
Junkyard Dogs 36, Semi Pros 18: Nick âLightningâ Lotrecchiano led all Dog scorers with 10 points and Austin Huffman dropped in 8 points of his own. Lotrecchiano and Huffman spearheaded the Dogsâ fast break and provided smothering team defense. Graham Hubbert scored 6 points from his low post position and dished out 4 assists. Two of Hubbertâs assists were to Trevor Palmer, who knocked down 6 points. Tommy Shaker dropped in 12 points and James Burdette added 10 more to lead the Semi-Prosâ offensive attack. Conrad Morris also chipped in with 4 assists. Joe Stromski and Michael Unschuld both played well on defense and Harry DePuy led the team on the boards with 10 rebounds.
Wolves 33, Dunkeys 29: The Wolves won their first game of the year behind the strong play of Kevin Ovendorf (8 points), Zachary Weiland (7 points) and Kaj Djonne (6 points). Jack Corbett also contributed 4 points and assisted on a critical basket to ensure the victory. Eric Cascone controlled the boards, grabbing 8 rebounds. Peter Manfredonia led the Dunkeys with a 15-point effort and nearly powered the team to a comeback from a major deficit. Carl Whippie controlled the boards for the Dunkeys.
Screaming Eagles 25, Heat 23: Jaret DeVellis provided early offense and Will âRoosterâ Dalton contributed late defense to key the Screaming Eaglesâ win. The Eagles jumped out to a big lead as DeVellis and Christian Hoffman combined for 13 points. As the game got tight in the second half, Kyle Mangold hit a key jump shot and Chris Hartley dominated the glass with a dozen rebounds. Dalton had 4 second-half steals and blocked the potential game tying-shot with 10 seconds remaining. Will Swain and Matt Bouton combined for 15 points for the Heat. Colin Morrissey and Andrew Pfeiffer also played well.
Celtics 35, Nets 17: CJ âBeastâ Dunn and Danny âThe Generalâ Colucci led the Celticsâ offense this week via multiple fast breaks and their typical run-and-gun style of offensive play. Connor âThe Chiefâ Ryan provided great defensive energy and hustle and came away with a block and 3 steals. For the Nets, Aidan Petershack led the scoring with 8 points, assisted by Nate Dowd driving inside. Steven Tramontozzi spearheaded the defense and Andrew King was strong on the boards.
Dragons 24, Gators 18: Sawyer Conrad and David Matthews combined for 16 points as the Dragons rallied to defeat the Gators in a hard-fought battle. Deegan Beauchemin and Tommy Rahr played well under the boards, while Bobby Lydon forced a number of turnovers by playing suffocating defense for the Dragons. For the Gators, Bryce Decker had 7 points, while Gustavo Porto and Adam Israel added to the offense, combining for 5 points. Jason Ferrari and Alec Clark worked well on defense and pulled down a number of rebounds for the Gators.
