Occupation: I work for Perform Printing out of Newtown. We do a lot of printing for municipalities — things like tax forms and parking tickets.

Family: My wife, Alice, and I have three children. Tom is 17, and we have twins, Bobby and Katie, who are 15 years old.

Pets: We have a Bichon Frise, Sassy. It’s a funny thing — our whole family is very tall, and unlike most Bichons that are tiny, ours has these long, long legs. It’s a tall, big Bichon.

How long have you been in Newtown? We’ve been here for eight years. We came up to Sandy Hook from Westchester.

What do you like to do in your free time? I don’t relax real well, but I do volunteer. I’m a member of the Knights of Columbus. I also go to a lot of sports events for the kids, and as a family, we like to go to New York to catch a Knicks game or a Yankees game.

Do you have a favorite sports personality? I like Brian Uhrlacher. He plays football for the Bears. He gets the most out of what his abilities are.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Trout Lake, in Lake George, N.Y. We go up there for a couple weeks every year. We rent a cabin, and the boys fish and boat. We just hang out.

What is the best thing about Newtown? It’s such a New England comfort zone. It feels so safe here. I lived in Yonkers, in a good neighborhood, for a while, and I had three cars stolen. I don’t have to worry about that kind of thing here.

If you could travel to the past or future, which would you choose? The future. I’ve already done the past. I’d like to see a cure for cancer and all these diseases, and I’d like to see us out of this recession. I hold hope that a lot of our problems will be solved.

Do you have a personal philosophy? I have two: “The journey is better than the end;” and “Winners lick their problems, losers get licked by their problems.”

What is the most important lesson you have ever learned? To treat other people how you’d like to be treated. I think I learned that from my mom. You need to pay forward all the good things that happen to you.
