Newtown Grapplers Baggett, White Help Chase School To Success

Newtown residents Judd Baggett and Emmet White have helped the Waterbury-based Chase Collegiate School’s wrestling team to an 8-4 record. Baggett, a senior in the 152-pound weight class, has an 11-1 record after having defeated three opponents by fall and winning another via forfeit in a meet on January 17.

Baggett, who is tied for a team-high in wins thus far, has earned recognition in the most recent New England rankings.

White, a freshman who wrestles in the 171-pound weight class, is off to a 3-2 start in his career.

Chase is coming off a 3-1 weekend following wins over The Marvelwood School, New York Military Academy and Hamden Hall Country Day, and a defeat to Canterbury. Chase will participate in the Brunswick Invitational in Greenwich on Saturday.
