Mother Earth And Baby-
Mother Earth And Babyâ
Business Expanding From The Information Highway To Church Hill Road
Another new retail presence has sprung up in Newtownâs center with roots in a home-based Internet business established by local entrepreneur Terri Scinto. Mother Earth and Baby at 34 Church Hill Road carries on the model of Ms Scintoâs Internet-based start-up, which she established soon after the birth of her daughter Carolanne in 2003.
The business was originally Little Girlsâ World.
Ms Scinto added organic clothing, diapers, toys and skin care, as well as gifts for moms, dads, and siblings to her product line in 2006, and Mother Earth and Baby was born.
While many of her eco-friendly, organic, and natural products are still only available through the online store, motherearthandbaby.com, Ms Scinto plans to make many of the most popular items available at her Church Hill Road location.
A few of the brand names she features include Kicky Pants, Sage Creek Organics, Bamboobino, Earth Mama Angel Baby, OiOi, Fleurville, and Amy Michelle. Nursery and toddler furniture by Bratt Décor, Ecotots, and Roebuck Studio is available, as well.
One of the unique offerings at Mother Earth and Baby is a full line of bamboo baby clothing, which has double the absorbency of cotton, and is earth-friendly because it provides an alternative to widespread forest clear-cutting with one of the most sustainable textile materials available today.
âIt grows on rain water alone, needing no help from pesticides,â Ms Scinto explained. âIt looks like expensive cotton, drapes like silk, and feels like cashmere.â
Mother Earth and Baby currently shares the Church Hill Road location with Hydrangea Blue, a business specializing in themed birthday parties, owned by Wendy Cole.
