Newtown Middle School basketball results:

Newtown 43, Bethel 35: The seventh grade boys won a tight game on against a scrappy Bethel team. Newtown was led in scoring by Matt Mossbarger with 11 points and Nick Caggenello with 9 points. The team was able to control the tempo of the game due to the outstanding play inside from Logan Puleri and Mike Davism who each had 7 points. Matt Hoyt and Jonah Muniz disrupted the Bethel offense with pressure defense at the top of the key.

Newtown 64, Bethel 55: The eighth grade boys pulled out a victory on clutch free throw shooting down the stretch from Gavin Scallon and Sean Elliot, who combined for 30 points and shot 8-for-12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Mike Daubert added 12 points from the bench and Reid Schmidt played outstanding defense in the paint that led to 10 points on the fast break.

Newtown 45, Whisconier 22: The seventh grade boys dominated a slower Brookfield team behind the scoring of Drew Tarantino and Mike Davis, who each scored 10 points. Logan Puleri and Mike Hoyt combined for 10 points as Matt Mossbarger, Jonah Muniz, and Matt Lindell played aggressive defense that forced multiple turnovers.

Newtown 67, Whisconier 47: The eighth grade boys won a very physical game against Brookfield behind an outstanding game from Reid Schmidt, who led all scorers with 20 points and was all over the court on defense. Gavin Scallon and Justin Devellis each scored 12 points as they led the fast break and contributed with multiple assists. Sean Elliot and Stephen Conway controlled the tempo of the game by beating the press with precise passing. Patrick Riccardi, Mike Daubert, Mike Scharfenberg and Chris Devaney dominated on the defensive end, grabbing key rebounds.
