Beloved Son And Brother

Mark Balakier, 54, of Stratford, died January 20. He was the beloved son of Beatrice “Bea” (Hoydic) Balakier and the late Theodore Balakier.

In addition to his mother, survivors include one brother, Douglas Balakier and his wife, Kathryn, of Sandy Hook.

Mr Balakier was an avid fan of Sacred Heart University’s Men’s Basketball team.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral Friday, January 23, at 9:15 am, at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10 am, at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 2nd Hill Lane, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Mountain Grove of Easton Cemetery. Calling hours were scheduled Thursday, January 22, from 4 to 7 pm.
