Benefit Swing Dance For ‘PKN & Friend

WESTON — On Saturday, January 31, the next FairWestSwing Project Swing Dance will be a special benefit for Community Radio Station WPKN. The event will be dedicated to the memory and passion of WPKN Programmer Victor Pachera.

Mr Pachera hosted “Jazz Classics” on WPKN from 1987 until May 2008. In recent years, when declining health made it too difficult to make it down to the station, Victor set his program on CD for airplay.  On May 30, he became too ill to continue and retired from radio. He died on November 6, at the age 77, but “his passion and dedication serve as an inspiration,” said FairWestSwing Project coordinator Bill “Stretch” Gore.

The dance will be at Norfield Grange, 12 Good Hill Road. Doors open at 7:15, a complimentary introductory swing dance lesson led by Mr Gore will be offered at 7:30, and open dancing and music will be ongoing from 9 pm until midnight.

Music this month will be performed by Manny and The Mojomatics plus special guests. Mr Gore will also serve as DJ for part of the evening.

Admission is $20, or $15 for ages 21 and under with ID. The dance is very beginner friendly, promises Mr Gore. Partners are not required, and the room is air conditioned and dehumidified. There is no smoking, and the event is alcohol free. Organic refreshments are available.

Door prizes will be awarded during the evening.

For additional information contact Mr Gore at 203-522-5341 or stretch@FairWestSwing.com, or visit FairWestSwing.com.
