INDIANAPOLIS, IND. — The long-running Indy Hoosier Antique Expo, presented for 39 straight years, continued to impress at its November 30–December 1 event. According to Shawn Hastings, show manager at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, sales and interest were evident everywhere in many categories. Dealers came from Texas to Virginia to Minnesota. Booths were full of Tiffany, French cameo, silver, jewelry, early pattern glass and furniture; and the show featured glass repair.

A show highlight was a pair of large Wave Crest vases, circa 1895, Meriden, Conn., with ormolu handles and feet, depicting seminude maidens frolicking on dolphin backs displayed by longtime dealer Don Williams of Kirksville, Mo., along with a booth full of important Victorian art glass and porcelain items.

A large cranberry glass revolving water fountain made by Tufts of Boston, circa 1875, with patent markings, sold quickly to longtime customers from Ohio at $3,650. An early cranberry oil lamp, circa 1860, with cranberry Nailsea stem was priced at $3,950.

A Royal Doulton Flow Blue punch bowl, circa 1890, in the Watteau pattern, was priced at $1,800. One dealer reported a number of Pickard hand painted porcelain items, circa 1895–1915, Chicago, that sold to collectors, all in hard-to-find portrait, animal and scenic categories.

RS Prussia (RSP) offered a large portrait plate with iridescent decoration tagged at $1,650, while an RSP cobalt leaf over flower large bowl sold quickly to a longtime RSP collector.

Several booths featured early American Victorian furniture, including a two-piece walnut bed and matching dresser, circa 1870, with carved fruit and lots of burl. The same booth featured a rare walnut child’s etagere and equally rare child’s walnut split pedestal dining table.

The Hoosier Antiques Expo is held three times annually. The next show is scheduled for April 11–13 at the fairgrounds.
