Any nicknames? I go by Bec. It used to be Beck, with the K, but now it’s just Bec and I tell people it’s like Bacon Egg & Cheese.

Family: My husband Jason and my son Callum.

Pets: We have four dogs — Gunner, Willow, Beau and Moose.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I’ve lived in Sandy Hook since 1993.

What do you do for work? I’m an insurance agent at Preferred Insurance here in town.

What did you want to be when you grew up? A police officer.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to craft. I have a little side gig called Simply Rustic Wood, and I do various craft fairs in the surrounding towns every year, pretty much around the holidays.

Are you a member of any clubs, organizations and/or communities of faith? I belong to St Rose.

Who or what has been the greatest influence on your life? My parents. They’ve always taught me to put my head down and work hard.

If you could spend the day with one person, living or deceased, who would it be and why? My grandfather. We called him Pop, and he passed away in 2009. The last time I saw him was for my 21st birthday. My mom made this indulgent, very delectable chocolate cake and he wanted a second piece and my grandmother was telling him he couldn’t have any more of it, and I snuck him a second piece. That is my last, good memory of him. He was an amazing man that I adored, and I know he would have loved to have met my husband and son.

Do you have any unusual or surprising talents? I’m ambidextrous.

Favorite movie genre? Horror. Scary movies are my favorite.

Favorite music genre? Country music is my favorite. I can relate to so many of the songs on so many different levels.

What is the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever been given? I actually have two. One is “Give more than you expect to receive.” There’s also the classic “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” I grew up playing softball and basketball for a good ten years of my life, like year-round, and that was something that always stuck with me. It was a big part of my growing up, a big part of what shaped me today.

Favorite food: Tacos!

Favorite color: Gray. I’m a neutral girl.

Who or what is something you cannot live without? My family.

What is your proudest accomplishment? My son. He is my everything.

What is your favorite thing about Newtown? It’s such a close-knit community. Everybody knows everybody here — which sometimes is tough (laughs) — and it’s home for me. My family moved here when I was 5, so this is all I know and I love. We went looking to move out of here at one point, and found our way right back here. It’s home.
