A Supportive And Thoughtful Community

To the Editor:

My father [Kenneth Adams] recently passed away. He was a longtime Newtown resident and had been involved with many organizations over the years.  I'm writing to express my appreciation for the support of the local community. We held the service at St. Rose of Lima, and Father Bob delivered the homily.

The support offered to my mom from the community and especially the St. Rose parishioners has been tremendous. So many friends approached her and the family to tell us stories about my dad. Amazingly, the service was one of the best I've attended.  It was truly a celebration of the life of a great hu-manitarian, and I cannot thank the community enough for their support.

I was a pall bearer and also had the honor of addressing the audience.  As I stood at the lectern and looked out at the guests in attendance, I could not help but feel immense pride in the life my father led.  I recognized many faces and also saw friends of my parents' that I had never met.  You've all made a very difficult and emotional experience much more comfortable for my family.

Newtown is a wonderful community.  We've been through the proverbial ringer and we continue to rise above the challenges we face.  Thank you all for your support and thoughts.  My dad certainly appreciates every one of you!

Best regards,

Jeff Adams
