New âQuick Cuisineâ Option Marked By A Grand Opening At NHS
Chartwells School Dining Services, Newtownâs food service provider, celebrated the opening of a new retail food service option for Newtown High School students on Thursday, January 14, with a grand opening ceremony.
After the ceremony, a tour of the new store was given to highlight Chartwellsâ new dining concept, called Environments, an age-specific design created to resonate with students, administrators, and parents, according to the company.
The new retail store, which was created from an unused dish room, revolves around âOuttakes Quick Cuisine,â a Chartwells brand that combines the service of a convenience store with whole meals and fresh items in a flexible format to fit schoolsâ needs.
The Outtakes store is the first of its kind in the Kâ12 Division for Chartwells in the Northeast Region.
Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson and Chartwells Regional Vice President Eric Pomental cut the ribbon of the new store, which is located in the schoolâs cafeteria.
Chartwells marketing sales manager Tammy Dubois said the opening would not be possible without the Chartwells staff in Newtown, who were recognized in 2009 with a Wellness Challenge Award and in addition, Chartwells honored them with the Regional and National Account of the year award.
âWe are very excited,â said Ms Dubois. âIt gives us an opportunity to keep up with retail trends.â
Ms Dubois also said the food offered at the new Outtakes store tastes nutritious and is nutritious.
According to Chartwells, Outtakes offers the option to buy meals served in a bowl, grab a combination of lean burgers, whole grain chicken patties, hot sandwiches, baked chicken, burritos and paninis. The store also offers prepared sandwiches, fresh dark greens, reduced fat cheese, whole grain breads, and wraps, among other options.
