Eva M. Mathison

Beloved Mother And Grandmother

Evan M. Mathison, 91, died January 15, at River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury. She was born February 18, 1918, in Hameenlinna, Finland, daughter of Emily and Alex Kirs. She was the widow of Sigurd Mathison.

She leaves two sons, Robert of Sandy Hook, and Kenneth and his wife, Margaret, of Southbury; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A son, Donald, predeceased Mrs Mathison.

Mrs Mathison came to the United States when she was 13 years old, living in the Bronx and Westchester, N.Y., before moving to Southbury in 1951. She lived in Newtown for 11 years before moving back to Southbury and later, Heritage Village.

She enjoyed going to the casino and to the dog track.

A funeral service will take place Monday, January 25, at 11 am, at the United Church of Christ, Main Street North, Southbury. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury. Calling hours are Sunday, January 24, from 2 to 4 pm, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury.
