2:15 pm: Parks & Rec tennis for this afternoon and tonight has been cancelled.

Also, the The Solarize Newtown workshop that was already postponed to Thursday night has also been moved. Due to a conflict with the original space, the workshop will instead be held in The Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall.

12:33 pm: Tonight’s Board of Education meeting has already been rescheduled to Thursday, January 23. The meeting will be streamed at:  https://new.livestream.com/accounts/6872164/BOEBudget

The BOE board meeting will start at 6:30 pm with a business meeting, followed “promptly at 7:30,” according to Dr Reed, with an overview presentation of the proposed 2014-15 school budget.

Due to the snowstorm that is expected to bring a few inches of snow to Newtown before it ends early Wednesday, January 22, groups have begun announcing cancellations and postponements of meetings and programs that had been planned for today.

In addition to schools being dismissed early, the following groups have already cancelled meetings scheduled for tonight: Board of Education, Economic Development Commission and Newtown Pension Committee.

Tonight’s Solarize Newtown program, the final for residents interested in learning about a statewide program, has been postponed to Thursday, January 23.

C.H. Booth Library’s Info Center, which was scheduled to open today at Edmond Town Hall, will instead open tomorrow (Jan. 22) at 2 pm.

Groups that are cancelling and postponing events are invited to contact The Newtown Bee. We will update this story, and our social media, as announcements arrive.

Please call Associate Editor Shannon Hicks at 203-426-3141 or send an email to shannon@thebee.com with your information.
