Occupation: Iâm a plumbing designer with the Kohler Ronan firm in Danbury. I design plumbing for commercial and high-end residential buildings. Weâve done museums, including some work at MOMA in New York, and the Metropolitan. Those are fun. We do a lot of performing arts centers around the country.
Family: My husband, Bob, and I have been married for 20 years. Our daughter, Amanda, recently graduated from Fairfield University as one of the first graduating classes there to receive a masterâs in fine arts.
Pets: We have four quarter horses: Dakota, Jaxson, Teddy, and Pi. And we have a barn cat named Miss Kitty. She adopted us three or four years ago, and sheâs very entertaining.
How long have you lived in Newtown? Weâve lived in Newtown since 1990.
What do you like to do in your free time? Mostly, I love to trail ride, locally. Iâm the president of the Newtown Bridle Lands Association, so Iâm busy with that. Sometimes we trailer our horses out to Steep Rock Park in Washington, Conn. Itâs beautiful country there and so close. I like being outdoors, maintaining the property or working with the animals. I do a little reading.
What are you reading now? Iâm reading Dressage In The Fourth Dimension. Itâs a great book about the art of horseback riding, and an avenue for self-reflection. When I first picked it up, I wasnât sure Iâd like it. I donât ride dressage. But anybody can relate to this book.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? One of my favorite places is Lake Minnewaska, and also Mohonk Preserve, both in New Paltz, N.Y. We trailer there and actually stay at a bed and breakfast. Every view is more spectacular than the next, and the trails are pristine.
What is the best thing about Newtown? My favorite things are the old buildings. Itâs classic, vintage architecture here. And I love the open space we have held onto. Itâs the reason I moved here, in the first place.
Do you have a hero? My dad. Heâs 88 years young. Heâs a deacon with the Catholic Church in Bridgeport. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps, and he has this wonderful, contagious outlook on life and family.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Itâs something Iâve adopted recently: To try to think before you speak or communicate to other people. With todayâs technology, you can end up communicating the wrong message. Always take the high road.
What makes you laugh? Time spent with old and new friends. That brings me a lot of joy and makes me happiest. I guess you could say, âGood wine, good food, good friends.â
