Let The Taxpayers Express Themselves
Let The Taxpayers Express Themselves
To the Editor:
There are moments when one literally cannot comprehend what is required for an individual, or in this case a âgroupâ of citizens chosen to be forthcoming with an intelligent solution to our annual budget referendum debacle. Remember the old adage âbite your tongueâ before you regret what comes out â well after living in this town for 24 years, I am without a tongue when it pertains to local politics. The geniuses at the Charter Revision Committee (excluding one) have come up with the most insulting and idiotic solution/questions to be put forth for public comment on the budget ballot.
They recommend three choices: a) Yes, b) No, Too High (whatâs too high: the town budget? school budget?, or the Charter Committee themselves), c) No, Too Low (thereâs one to ponder over, but same dilemma). Bottom line â there are individuals in political positions that refuse to let the taxpayers in this town express themselves with absolutely no gray areas when it involves our monies. Good luck with your âpublicâ forum on the 26th.
