Edward C.

Krawiecki, Sr

Devoted To God, Family And His Country

Edward C. Krawiecki, Sr, of Bristol, attorney and counselor at law, died January 13, after a brief illness.

Attorney Krawiecki, the oldest of seven children of Veronika and Feliks Krawiecki, was raised on a small family farm in Hawleyville. He grew up as a child of immigrant Polish-speaking parents and attended a one-room schoolhouse until the eighth grade. He graduated from Newtown High School as the salutatorian, and from Syracuse University with a major in government, magna cum laude, in 1941. He began his law studies at Syracuse University, but was cut short by World War II, when he enlisted in the Army in 1942. He was released from active duty on December 25, 1945. He resumed his studies at Yale University Law School, graduating in 1947.

He is survived by the love of his life, his bride of 59 years, Alba Turcio Krawiecki, and their five children, nine grandchildren, two siblings, and several nieces and nephews.

His lifelong passion for photography, travel, the arts, writing, and reading were all magnified when called to duty in World War II. He left the family farm and got to see the world and travel more than anyone in his family had ever dreamt possible.

Attorney Krawiecki served in the office of the Corporation Counsel for the City of Bristol under many different mayors. He is credited with the first complete rewrite of the City of Bristol Charter and Code of Ordinances in 1967. He was particularly proud that his son followed in his footsteps as legal counsel to the city.

Attorney Krawiecki also served as redevelopment counsel for the city when downtown was redeveloped in the 1960s. He was a Justice of the Peace for many years. Over his lifetime, his interest in government and its workings caused him to become involved in numerous political positions.

A man of deep faith, he was an active parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and involved in many civic activities.

His family remembers him with grateful hearts for the start in life he provided.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on January 17. Entombment, with military honors, was in the Holy Family Mausoleum at St Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.

Memorial donations may be made to the Edward and Alba Krawiecki Scholarship at Saint Paul Catholic High School, 1001 Stafford Avenue, Bristol CT 06010. A Tribute Wall is available for friends and family to share memories and condolences at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.
