Develop Your Keyboard Chops
Develop Your Keyboard Chops
Julie Cook, director of Julieâs Piano Workshop, has announced that the studioâs monthly âDevelop Your Chops!â series will offer a pair of free sessions to the public on Saturday, January 29.
Hour-long workshops will begin at 1:30 and 2:45, and will guide registered students in fine-tuning one aspect of piano playing. Students and guests will learn easy ways to improvise music on the spot, even if theyâve never done it before. They will create movie soundtracks, use ostinato patterns, blues chords, words, pictures, and other tools to stimulate ideas.
During an open mic portion of each workshop, students may share their own favorite pieces and original works, and trade âby heartâ melodies.
Julieâs Piano Workshop, at 111 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook, has served the community for 27 years. The studio offers private piano lessons and voice lessons for children and adults. Students perform at area nursing homes twice during the year and participate in a Spring Piano Celebration.
Ms Cook finds that piano students often play alone and can benefit from group playing and sharing of ideas.
Persons of any age who currently play the piano and those who simply have an interest in the piano are welcome to call Ms Cook at 203-426-7924 to register for the Develop Your Chops! workshop.
