Three Concerts Remain For RSOâs Current Season
RIDGEFIELD â Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra has three concerts remaining in 2004-05, its 40th anniversary performance season. The season, âForty and Fantastic!â is offering a diverse collection of evocative and colorful music, including some of the worldâs most respected classics and some inspiring hidden treasures.
Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra is also celebrating its ninth season under the musical direction of Maestro Sidney Rothstein.
The next concert is scheduled for Saturday, February 5, and will begin at 8 pm. It will be performed in Richardson Auditorium at Ridgefield High School, 700 North Salem Road.
The program is called âBeautiful Treasuresâ and will include the performances of Padarewskiâs Piano Concerto in A minor (with guest soloist Janina Fialkowska) and Mozartâs Symphony No. 40.
On Sunday, March 13, RSO will offer âSpring Potpourriâ at Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge Road. On the program for that evening is Coplandâs Quiet City, with guest soloists John Charles Thomas and Dorothy Darlington, and Schubertâs Symphony No. 5.
This concert will begin at 3 pm.
The season finalé is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, at 8 pm, and will have RSO returning to the auditorium at Ridgefield High School. The concert, âRomantic Expressions,â will feature Rachmaninoffâs Piano Concerto No. 3, with soloist Rui Shi, and Hansonâs Symphony No. 2, (âRomanticâ).
