SCAN’s Winter Show & Sale Opens Saturday

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will present “Color in January,” its annual winter show and sale of members’ works, beginning Saturday, January 22.

The event regularly showcases nearly 200 works of original art by 100 area artists working in oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastels, and graphics.

This year’s exhibition will run from January 22 until Sunday, January 30. It is returning to Lexington Gardens, at 32 Church Hill Road. The public is invited to the opening reception on Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm, during which many artists plan to be present.

Artists and art lovers alike will also enjoy the special feature of this event: hour-long artist demonstrations held at 12:30 each Saturday and Sunday during the run of “Color in January.” This year’s artists and their presentations are scheduled as follows: January 22, pastel artist Dick McEvoy; January 23, watercolor artist Calvin Martin; January 29, oil painter Nancy Warwick; and January 30, watercolor artist Richard Ochs.

Show hours are 9 am to 5 pm daily, and admission is free.
