Grants For Food Pantries

DANBURY — The Northern Fairfield County area (Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, Newtown, New Fairfield, Redding, Ridgefield) has been awarded $54,106 in federal funds, under the Emergency Food and Shelter national board program, to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area.

A local board will determine how the funds are to be distributed among programs in the area. Organizations chosen to receive funds must be nonprofit, have an accounting system and conduct an annual audit, practice nondiscrimination, have demonstrated the ability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and if a private, voluntary organization, must have a voluntary board.
