Claire Kopp Miller

Claire Kopp Miller, 80, of Noank, formerly of Newtown, died January 11 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Montague Gordon Miller, her beloved husband of 55 years, predeceased her.

Born June 19, 1924, in Waterbury, to William Kopp and Lauretta Bergin Kopp, Claire and Gordon were married in 1949. The couple started their family in Newtown, eventually moving to Noank in 1975. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She dedicated her life to her family, church, and community. Known for her strength of character and willingness to help others, Claire was a tireless caregiver and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Pam Tibbitts of Bethel, Nancy Osborn of Worcester, Mass., and Jane Kenny of Manchester, her sisters, Lauretta Stocking of Southbury, Catherine Walsh of Waterbury, and Marjorie Ausin of Lancaster, Penn., and their families; and her seven precious grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 am Saturday, January 22, at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. A memorial celebration will be held at the Noank Baptist Church, Noank, Sunday, January 23 following morning worship.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 96 Oak Street, Hartford, CT 06106, In Memory of Claire Miller.
