Wanda Towner

Wanda K. Towner, 88, a longtime resident of the Norwich area, died December 31. She was born February 4, 1927, in the Hawleyville district of Newtown, the daughter of the late Varonika (Kozlowska) and Feliks Krawiecki.

Mrs Towner was raised in Newtown, and lived in Mahopac and Peekskill, N.Y., before settling in Plymouth in the late 1950s.

Brothers Albert Krawiecki, and his wife Bea, of Hawleyville, and Val Krawiecki, and his wife Barbara, of Fort Johnson, N.Y.; and sister-in-law Alba Krawiecki; her children and their spouses, Donna and Ed Bigler, Donald and Sherry Towner, and Bruce and Penny Towner; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren survive Mrs Towner. Her husband Donald C. Towner and brothers Edward, William, and Frank predeceased Mrs Towner.

She worked at the Norwich Shoe Company for more than 30 years.

Mrs Towner loved to spend time with family and attending scouting events with her children. She enjoyed baking, sewing, bird watching, gardening, and her pets.

A celebration of her life took place January 6, in Norwich.
