Betty Jean Chandler

Betty Jean Chandler, 85, formerly of Lexington, Va., died January 14 in Albuquerque, N.M. She was born October 9, 1928, and was a daughter of Edna Barclay Culley and George Hunter Culley.

Surviving are her four children and their spouses, Marlene and Martin Bucci of Newtown, Jan C. and Dominick Vita of St Augustine, Fla., Karen Chandler of Albuquerque, and Bradford III and Louisa Chandler of Austin, Texas; one sister, Helen C. Duffendack of Sun Prairie, Wis., and five grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Bradford Chandler; and a brother, G. Hunter Culley.

Mrs Chandler graduated Lake Erie College in Ohio. She was a member of the St Paul’s Anglican Church in Lexington and a member of the Lexington Women’s Club. She was active in a scrapbook club in Albuquerque and enjoyed scrapbooking about her travels.

Mrs Chandler enjoyed the outdoors, birdwatching, walking her dogs, doing puzzles, and spending time with her family.

A funeral service was conducted January 21, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel, 714 South Main Street, Lexington, Va., with the Reverend Wallace C. Shields officiating. Burial was at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, 314 South Main Street, Lexington.
