John (Cy) Cybul, Jr, 86, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Olga Chepko Cybul, died January 14 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport to John and Anna Cybul, he had been a Trumbull resident for 32 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four loving children, Deborah McGrath and her husband, Richard, of Sandy Hook, John Cybul III of Trumbull, Karen Ivers of Stratford, and Gregory Cybul of Trumbull; two sisters, Lydia Bilanan and her husband, Joseph, and Sophie Fabula and her husband, Andrew, all of Oxford; three beloved grandchildren, Thomas Ivers, Katherine Ivers, and Timothy McGrath; and several nieces and nephews. He had been predeceased by four sisters, Nadia Boroway, Olga Kurimsky, Nina Novinsky, and Helen Hanewicz.
Mr Cybul was World War II Army veteran. He was retired from the former Howlandâs Department Store where he had worked as a display designer for 48 years. Mr Cybul was an avid reader and gardener. He enjoyed walking, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. An accomplished artist, Mr Cybul designed the family Christmas cards for more than 50 years.
Funeral services were held on January 18 at the Pistey Funeral Home, Stratford, and at St John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, Stratford, with the Reverend Peter Paproski officiating. Interment was in St John Cemetery, Monroe.
