The Facts About Cholesterol

NEW MILFORD – Heart disease is a leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. High cholesterol is a significant factor that increases the risk for heart attack or stroke.

Dr Jonathan Beck, family medicine practitioner, will discuss the facts about cholesterol in a free health forum in the New Milford Hospital Robison conference rooms on Thursday, February 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Dr Beck will explain what cholesterol, HDL/LDL, and triglycerides are and how they can affect the flow of blood to the heart. He also discusses the importance of knowing your cholesterol levels, following a heart healthy diet and developing a regular exercise program. His talk includes information on various medications designed to lower cholesterol.

A free heart health risk assessment, provided by the cardiac rehabilitation staff, is available prior to the lecture.
