NHS 2017 Art Portfolio Exhibition At C.H. Booth Library
Artwork created by students in Newtown High School art teacher Carol Pelligra's art portfolio class this semester is on view at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, through January 24, when a closing reception will be held from 4:30 to 7 pm.
All of the works are on view in the library's meeting room, where the closing reception will be held.
Students worked to put their pieces on display on Thursday, January 12. NHS students Chaeli Allen, Sadie Elkow, Teresa Forlenzo, Daphne Mack, and Jerusha Wright each have at least eight works of art on view, according to the students.
As she worked to hang her works in one corner of the room, Jerusha looked over her shoulder and said, "Love all of you, and all of you are all so talented."
Sadie worked in another area to make sure her works, one a drawing depicting piano keys and another of bright green leaves, were straight.
With artwork just beginning to decorate the space, Chaeli said it was "great to see what we have done over this past semester." In the pieces, Chaeli said, she saw all the hard work the students have put in this semester, and that people should visit the library to see all of that work.
"We love Ms Pelligra like she is our mom," Jerusha said, while Ms Pelligra had stepped out of the room to find more material to hang the art. "She's our art mom."
