Congregation Adath Israel of Newtown will host Dan Wolinsky and his talk on “The Names They Left Behind,” stories of everyday words derived from people’s names, on Sunday, January 24, at 2 pm.

Mr Wolinsky, who has lived in Danbury and Newtown for the past 35 years, is a retired university professor and the author of several books on business subjects. He was one of the organizers of the not-for-profit Learning Exchange, a program for adult daytime learning that was in offered in Danbury from 2004 until 2014.

In addition, Mr Wolinsky is the author of Sines of the Bizarre and Sines of the Bizarre Too (2013 and 2014). These books present challenging and amusing word play and brain games built on homonyms and puns.

Most recently, Mr Wolinsky and his wife Ruth have facilitated the introduction of educational lectures on a wide array of subjects including art, science, wine, poetry, chocolate and nursing to condominium residents at Liberty at Newtown.

Adath Israel invites the community for what should be an interesting talk and discussion. The presentation is free, and will be for general audiences. Light refreshments will be served after the presentation.

The synagogue is at 115 Huntingtown Road, Newtown.
