VNA Scholarship Presented To Rebekah Foote

Rebekah A. Foote has been awarded one of two ­annual Newtown Visiting Nurse Association scholarships. Ms Foote was presented with the Anna E. Clow Scholarship check on January 10 by VNA members Margareta Kotch and Sally Schwerdtle.

Ms Foote is a 2004 graduate of Newtown High School. She is attending Western Connecticut State University, studying for a bachelor’s of science in nursing (BSN) degree.

The Newtown Visiting Nurse Association Anna E. Clow Scholarship is given annually to encourage interest and growth in the nursing profession by offering financial assistance to a graduating high school senior. The scholarship is in the amount of $4,000 and is awarded when the recipient has entered the clinical portion of the nursing program.

The scholarship is given on the basis of interest in the nursing profession, scholarship ability, personality, and recommendation by the guidance department and principal. It is available to students entering the profession of nursing and studying for a registered nurse degree or a bachelor of science in nursing.

“Rebekah is an outstanding young lady and student pursuing a rewarding career in the medical profession,” said VNA award chair Sally Schwerdtle. “We are very proud of her.”

The Newtown VNA Scholarship Program was established in 1972 and to date has awarded more than $73,750.
