Earth Art For Kids, Saturdays At Nature Center
WOODBURY â Flanders Nature Center invites budding artists to an adventure connecting art, nature and science. Once monthly beginning January 20, and continuing through June, Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust will offer a program for children ages 5 through 10 called âEarth Art for Kids.â
Programs will be held from 10 am to 12:30 pm, and are designed to help children develop drawing and painting skills while developing a lifelong love of art and nature in the bountiful setting of the Van Vleck Farm Sanctuary in Woodbury.
Building upon natural curiosity, students will learn about local wildlife and habitats while hiking and exploring through the forest, fields, ponds and farm of the nature center. These explorations will create an opportunity for children to discover that nature is full of surprises as they search for insects, reptiles, birds, amphibians and mammals. Â
As part of the artistâs experience, students will also enjoy creative expression of their feelings, energies and thoughts as they experiment with varied art media, both wet and dry. There will be lots of activities, and participants should be prepared to âdress for a mess.â
The Saturday programs for âEarth Art for Kidsâ will be held January 20, February 10, March 10, April 14, May 12 and June 9. The fee for each program is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
As space is limited; registration and advance payment by mail or in person are required.
