Carmela V. Burdo, 63, of Fairfield, the beloved wife for more than 42 years of Guglielmo Burdo, died January 13 at Yale-New Haven Medical Center with her family by her side. Born in St Michele, Italy, Mrs Burdo was a longtime Fairfield resident.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two devoted children and their spouses, Gerardo and Gabrielle Burdo of Fairfield and Marialisa and Fred DiMaria of Newtown; her mother, Maria Venezia of Fairfield; her sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Andrew Takacs of Fairfield; five cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Isabelle, and Olivia Burdo and Catherine and Joseph DiMaria; two nephews, Frank Venezia and Joseph Takacs; a niece, Marianne Venezia; two great-nieces, Gabriella Forrest and Alexa Takacs; and two great-nephews, Jake and Jason Takacs. Her father, Francesco Venezia; her brother, Michael; and her niece, Dawn Forrest, predeceased her.
Her priority in her life was her family. Mrs Burdo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter. She was a devoted friend to many. She had a way of making everyone in her life feel important and well cared for. She was always available to those she loved.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, January 18, at St Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield. Entombment was in St Thomas Mausoleum.
