Walter Kichler of Ridgefield died at his home surrounded by loving family on January 8, after a long and valiant battle with IPF.
He is deeply missed by his wife, Lydia Hary Kichler, and their four children and spouses, Marco and Paula Kichler of Newtown, Diana and Kris Kaufman of Redmond, Wash., Cornelia and Alan Hurwitz of Redding, and Martina and Steven Marasco of Narragansett, R.I.; and 11 grandchildren, Alexander, Victoria, Oliver, Michelle, Julia, Philip, Olivia, Nicholas, Aaron, Daniel, and Adam.
Mr Kichler was born and educated in Germany. He came to the United States in 1954. A Ridgefield resident for 40 years, he was an engineering manager at Dana Corporation.
A funeral mass was held on January 14 at Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown.
