Young Adult

*New YA Health database is online!

Teen Health & Wellness: Real Life, Real Answers, can be accessed directly from our webpage both at home and in the library; visit biblio.org/YAWebSpot and look for the link for Teen health & Wellness – New! under the photo in the center of the page.

This comprehensive database is set up for teens to research health-related issues important to their well-being. It’s a user-friendly research and report tool as well as a self-help resource. The content is updated regularly and checked for accuracy. Young adults and those who care about them will find that this resource is something they can refer to often.

*Make Creative Chocolates for Valentine’s Day with Marie Walker.

The annual chocolate fest for young adults in grade 6 and up is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, from 3 to 5 pm (snow date is February 12).

The workshop is limited to 12 Newtown students or residents. A supply fee of $6 will need to be paid at the program.

*Independent Film Series: This series will resume on Wednesday, January 30, with a screening of Viva Cuba at 7 pm.

In a tale akin to Romeo and Juliet, the friendship between two children is threatened by their parents’ differences.  Malu is from an upper-class family and her single mother does not want her to play with Jorgito as she thinks his background is coarse and commonplace. Jorgto’s mother a poor socialist proud of her family’s social standing, places similar restrictions on her son.

What neither woman recognizes is the immense strength of the bond between Malu and Jorgito.

The film has a running time of 80 minutes.
