Andrew DeLorenzo, Sr, 90, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Antoinette DâOnofrio DeLorenzo, died January 14. Born and raised in Bridgeport, Mr DeLorenzo was a Fairfield resident for more than 50 years.
In addition to his devoted wife of 70 years, he leaves behind his children, Andrew DeLorenzo, Jr, and his wife, Bonnie, and John DeLorenzo and his wife, Faye, all of Newtown, Michael A. DeLorenzo of Fairfield, James DeLorenzo and his wife, Deborah, Joseph DeLorenzo and his wife, Debra, all of Easton, Barbara Gill and her husband, William, and Linda DeLorenzo, all of Fairfield, Rose-Marie DeLorenzo and Loretta Caserta, both of Stratford. He leaves behind 13 cherished grandchildren, Christa, Casey, Carly, and Catie DeLorenzo, Ashley DeLorenzo, Derek and Andrew DeLorenzo III, Lindsay Gill, Andrea Young, Antoinette Wlasuk and Anthony, Corey, and Andrew Caserta; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr DeLorenzo was predeceased by his brother, Augie, and sisters Mary, Phil, and Lucie.
Many years ago he was the owner of the Farmers Outlet on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport. During those years Mr DeLorenzo was also a major distributor of Christmas trees, bringing them here from Nova Scotia for more than 40 years. He worked most recently as the CEO of Dellâs Auto Wrecking Inc in Danbury, a position that he held for 45 years.
Mr DeLorenzo enjoyed restoring antique automobiles, gardening, and was an avid reader. He belonged to the Antique Car Club and the Horseless Carriage Club. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be fondly remembered as a hard working man who put his family before all else. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held January 17 in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, Fairfield Center, with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery.
