Connecticut Choral Society Scholarship To Be Awarded In May

The Connecticut Choral Society is pleased to be offering its third annual scholarship award. Public and private schools will be invited to participate. Now in its 20th year, the Connecticut Choral Society wishes to encourage and promote young choral singers in the greater Waterbury-Danbury area.

Applicants must be in 10th, 11th or 12th grade of an invited school. The following schools will be invited to participate: Bethel High School, Brookfield High School, the Canterbury School, Crosby High School, Danbury High School, Gunnery School, Holy Cross High School, Immaculate High School, Kennedy High School, Masuk High School, Naugatuck High School, New Milford High School, Newtown High School, Nonnewaug High School, Pomperaug High School, Ridgefield High School, Sacred Heart High School, the Taft School, Watertown High School, Westover School, Wilby High School, Wooster School.

Choral directors in these schools will be asked to nominate three chorus members to compete for this award. Application packets will be mailed to the choral directors the week of January 10, 2000. Completed applications must be returned or postmarked by February 19.

Auditions and interviews will be held on May 6, 2000 for selected finalists.

The Connecticut Choral Society encourages worthy candidates from these schools to apply for this scholarship through their choral directors.
